Welcome to AHDRA Season 2010!

Thank you for a great year! Congratulations to all riders, horses, crew, and vets on a job well done!

Christine Lazzarini has created a new documentary about Endurance Horse Riding called "Arabian Silk: Horses of Endurance". Not only winning the Audience Choice Award, it also was a finalist at the Reno Film Festival. Karen Chaton wrote a review, which can be accessed Here. "This heart-warming and intriguing film inspects the fastest growing equestrian discipline of Endurance Horse Racing. The story follows Roger, an endurance horse, through his life of racing and illuminates the powerful friendship between him and his rider, Jerry. The sport has been described as arduous and painful, as well as pleasant and fulfilling. At its most grueling, Endurance Racing demands a horse and rider to go 100 miles in under 24 hours. With only few mandatory breaks for rest, racers endure seemingly endless hours of hard riding under the desert sun during the day and couragiously trek through the ominous darkness of pitch-black night. The purity of the connection between horse and rider is poignant and inspiring, as you watch the bond strengthen into deep, touching friendship as they go through trial and triumph." Brocures are available!
AHDRA has put together a brocure with information about the organization, including a membership form and picutres. If you would like to receive a brocure, or more than one--hand them out at rides, horsey functions, or to friends--contact Katie Bachhuber at kbach@nconnect.net or call at 920-387-4494. Please consider getting in contact with Katie, especially if you are going to out-of-UMECRA area rides. Most of our membership is in the Midwest, and hundres of people do not know about us!

Consider sending Jen Allen an email at sydney1410@yahoo.com. Emails are sometimes being bounced back to the sender, indicating that we do not have your right address. The best way to ensure we have your correct email is to send a quick note directly to her so she can add you in her address book! If you have not heard from Chris or Jen via email before, please do this. We may need to send you a quick update, news, emergency cancellations, or see how your season is coming. Thanks!
