In addition to holding our annual meeting,
2007 awards
were presented the evening of January 11th
in Rockford, Illinois. If you were not able to be present
to receive your award, please contact Chris Power and we
will try to make arrangements to get your award to you.
Congratulations to all AHDRA riders for their 2007 season,
and thanks!
Minutes
of the 30th
Annual AHDRA Meeting, January 13, 2008 (Draft--not
approved):
Fall
AHDRA Membership Meeting:
In
the January 13th
annual meeting
a Fall meeting of the membership
was proposed, perhaps in conjunction with an AHDRA
sponsored ride. Although organizations, like individuals
with New Year’s resolutions, sometimes have trouble
executing an intention, please stay alert for notices of
this possible meeting through this web site.
Membership
application and renewals:
There
have been some changes in the AHA membership process, but
AHDRA will continue with the same membership renewal
process that we have always had (current members MUST renew
by December 15th
to avoid late charges, and your membership will be from
November 1st
thru October 31st).
The AHA has also changed to include a
'competition card'
which will require an additional charge. Your AHDRA
affiliate
membership dues include this AHA competition card for you.
For more information about the changes in the AHA
membership process and the competition card, please visit
their
AHA
website at www.arabianhorses.org
Also remember that the
AHDRA ride season ended October 31st
,2008. Any rides done after that date wwere NOT be credited
to the 2007 ride season, but will be for the 2008 ride
season. You must also have your 2008 membership received
and paid for before you will get credit for any rides done
after Oct 31, 2007. For a membership form please contact
the AHDRA Secretary, or to print membership form by
clicking
here.
Riding
outside of UMECRA?
It
is the rider’s responsibility to report any ride they have
finished outside of UMECRA within 30 days of the ride date.
Please fill out a Ride Information
Form
when you have completed a non-UMECRA ride.
GET
YOUR HORSES NOMINATED!
Please fill out a Horse Information
Form!!!
Thank
you to those of you who have already taken care of this,
it is a HUGE help to me as the Points Keeper. Those of
you who have NOT taken care of this I would once again
like to remind you to send me a list of the horse(s)
that you are going to be riding this year! I am finding
members who are listed in ride reports but I cannot give
them credit for the rides because they have not sent me
a list of their horse(s) and registration number(s).
When I see an AHDRA member listed in the ride reports
there is no way for me to know if the horse you are
riding is an arab or 1/2 arab and/or if it is even
registered. PLEASE BE SURE TO GET ME A LIST OF YOUR
HORSES AND REGISTRATION NUMBERS! We want to be sure that
you get credit for all of the rides and miles that you
do!
I have included a webpage with a list of the
nominated horses that I have in my database. This way
you can easily check to see if your horse is already
nominated or not. Once a horse is nominated, you do not
have to 're-nominate', this is a ONE-TIME thing. So do
yourself (and me) a favor and get this taken care of.
Click into the Member Info page, there will be a link
there that you click on to get the Nominated Horse List.
Please check this list, and if your horse is NOT there
let me know ASAP so that you can begin getting credit
for your rides!
AHDRA
in the news:
An article on the 2007 AHDRA II Ride, “Endure for the
Cure”, appeared in the December/January 2008 issue of
AHA’s
Modern Arabian Horse,
on page 113.
History
of AHDRA:
In
the organization’s 30th
year of gathering for our annual meeting, AHDRA President
Helen Nelson and some members had an opportunity to chat
with Dr. Beecher about the organization’s beginnings and
history. This was a fascinating conversation, leading to
interest in capturing and documenting our organization’s
beginnings and history. Anyone interested?
Point
System:
There has been some controversy in the past concerning our
current points system. We are opening this issue for
discussion and are welcoming ideas for what you (the
members) would like in the coming year.
A motion was made
at our annual meeting in 2007 to require that AHDRA members
ride at least 3 rides in a certain region to qualify for
year-end awards. This really goes against our
“multi-regional” membership status.
We are hoping to look
at an overall point system (similar to AERC) where you will
be given points according to your overall placing at a
ride. AHDRA would still have the same divisions (Purebred,
Partbred, Junior).
Please check back for more
information.
